Boeing to Help MDA Engineer, Integrate Ballistic Missile Defense Tech Under $240M Contract

Boeing (NYSE: BA) has received a potential five-year, $240M contract from the Missile Defense Agency to support engineering and integration of technical systems for the Ballistic Missile Defense program.

MDA will incrementally pay for the services with $40.9M in fiscal year 2019 research, development, test and evaluation funds, the Department of Defense said Friday.

The company will perform contract work in Huntsville, Ala. through Dec. 21, 2023.

According to a FedBizOpps summary, Boeing will lead a consortium called the National Team-Engineering in efforts to help the agency incorporate homeland defense radars, mobile and space sensors and hypersonic threat defense technologies into the BMD system.

Editor’s Note 12/31/18: The DoD said its Dec. 21 contract award announcement for Boeing had an incorrect period of performance and amount of incremental funding. The story above was updated to state the correct details.
