A Kongsberg Gruppen business unit has received a four-year, $498.3M contract from the U.S. Army to continue to build a remote weapon station designed to help soldiers identify and engage targets while inside an armored vehicle.
The Defense Departmentsaid Friday that Kongsberg’s defense and aerospace group will also support engineering and sustainment of the M153 Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station.
Army Contracting Command will determine work locations and funds with each order under the firm-fixed-price contract that runs through Sept. 13, 2022.
CROWS can be mounted onto a vehicle and equipped with a variety of machine guns and grenade launchers as well as a fire control system for ballistic correction.
Kongsberg initially received a CROWS production contract from the Army in August 2007.
