The State Department has approved the Dutch government™s request to procure from the U.S. government equipment and services to support upgrades to AH-64D Block II Apache attack helicopters under a potential $1.2 billion foreign military sales agreement.
Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will serve as principal contractors in the proposed transaction that covers the modernization of 28 AH-64D helicopters to AH-64E configuration, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Wednesday.
The proposed deal also includes installation of T700-GE-701D engines and purchase of AN/APG-78 fire control radar systems and subcomponents, AN/APR-48B modernized radar frequency interferometers, AN/ASQ-170 modernized target acquisition and designation sights, AN/AAR-11 modernized pilot night vision sensors and embedded GPS/inertial navigation systems with multimode receivers.
The Netherlands also requested simulators, helmets, repair parts and spares, generators, transportation, wheeled vehicles and organization equipment, training resources, technical, engineering and logistics services.
The European country expects the helicopter modernization work to help build up its national defense, address regional threats and offer support to security cooperation and coalition efforts.
