Fluor (NYSE: FLR) has received a six-month, $240 million task order to support U.S. Army engineers in efforts to repair the power grid system in Puerto Rico.
The company said Thursday it will apply its power management and government contingency support experience to help the Army Corps of Engineers restore transmission and distribution lines in the U.S. territory
The single-award order also calls for the company to evaluate and repair equipment, as well as re-energize and recommission Puerto Rico’s substations and switching stations.
“We have been working in disaster-stricken locations for decades and were pleased to work alongside the Army Corps of Engineers South Atlantic Division,” said Tom DAgostino, president of Fluors government group.
“Fluor is proud to play an initial role in restoring a sense of normalcy to the people of Puerto Rico.”
