Army Vet George Franz Appointed to Lead Accenture Defense & Security Business Initiatives

George Franz, a retired U.S. Army major general and former operations director of the U.S. Cyber Command, has joined Accenture‘s (NYSE: ACN) federal services business as managing director of defense and security business initiatives.

Accenture said Tuesday Franz will provide cybersecurity and adaptive technology expertise and work with federal clients to help them understand threats; identify threat mitigation measures; and gain insight into defensive tactics that could optimize their security posture.

At Cybercom, Franz oversaw the planning and implementation of Defense Department and interagency offensive, defensive and global network cyberspace operations.

He previously served as commanding general at the Army’s Intelligence and Security Command, where he led intelligence operations in support of seven combatant command theaters, as well as combat operations to aid the global counter-terrorism campaign.

Franz also served as commanding general of the Cyber National Mission Force and founding director of the Information Dominance Center within the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
