Harris‘ (NYSE: HRS) radio frequency communications unit has received a potential $765 million to provide multiple portable radio systems and ancillary parts to the U.S. Navy.
The Defense Departmentsaid Monday the company will also help the service branch field manpack, handheld, fixed-mount, vehicular and base station radios that address requirements from the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.
The sole-source contract’s base period of performance will run through September 2018 and work could extend for an additional four years if the Navy exercises all options.
DoD noted the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command will obligate Navy and U.S. Marine Corps operations and maintenance; procurement; “other” procurement; and research, development, test and evaluation funds upon the issuance of individual delivery orders.
Contract work will occur at Harris’ facility in Rochester, New York.
