A joint venture led by AECOM (NYSE: ACM) has received a three-year, $928 million contract extension from the Energy Department to oversee the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico.
Nuclear Waste Partnershipwill continue to operate and manage the WIPP underground repository built to dispose of transuranic radioactive waste materials, AECOM said Tuesday.
Other NWP members are BWX Technologies (NYSE: BWXT), Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group and AREVA Federal Services.
John Vollmer, president of AECOM’s management services group and an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2017, said NWP remains committed to help DOE increase safety of transuranic waste disposal operations at WIPP.
The contract’s three-year base period is scheduled to commence Oct. 1 and work could further extend through Sept. 30, 2022 if all options are exercised.
