Raytheon Gets Additional $83M Contract Funds for AIM-9X Block II Missile Production

Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has received an $82.8 million contract modification to produce AIM-9X Block II missile systems for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force as well as the governments of Poland, Indonesia, Romania and Belgium.

The modification was awarded by the Navy and covers the full-rate production of 180 lot 17 AIM-9X all-up-round missiles, 19 captive air training missiles, 50 missile containers and three special air training missiles, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

Raytheon will also deliver seven spare active optical target detector containers, four guidance unit containers, two spare active optical target detectors, two spare tactical guidance units, two spare captive air training missile guidance units and other associated spare parts.

Work is scheduled to be completed in March 2020.

DoD noted the Navy provided the full amount of the modification at the time of award and $10.2 million in obligated funds will expire by the end of the current fiscal year.

AIM-9X Block II is an updated version of AIM-9X Sidewinder missile and equipped with a redesigned fuze, a digital ignition safety device and modern electronics.
