The State Department has given Iraq the go-ahead to purchase High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles, rifles and other military equipment for the Middle Eastern country™s two Peshmerga infantry brigades and two artillery battalions under a potential $295.6 million foreign military sales agreement.
The government of Iraq asked to buy up-armored M1151 Humvees, M16A4 rifles, M2 50 and M240B machine guns, transportation and cargo vehicles and tactical quiet generator sets, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Wednesday.
Helmets, body armor, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive protective and detection tools, M119A2 105mm howitzers, radio systems, navigation tools, medical equipment, spare parts and training support are also included in the potential deal.
