The State Department has approved Norway’s request to buy Boeing-built (NYSE: BA) P-8A patrol aircraft and associated support under a $1.75 billion foreign military sales agreement with the U.S. government.
Norway asked to purchase up to five P-8A aircraft with commercial engines, tactical open mission software, electro-optical and infrared MX-20HD, AN/AAQ-2(V)1 acoustic system, AN/APY-10 radar and ALQ-240 electronic support measures, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Wednesday.
DSCA notified Congress of the proposed sale on Tuesday.
The transaction also covers 11 Multifunctional Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio Systems, eight Guardian Laser Transmitter Assemblies, eight system processors, 42 AN/AAR- 54 missile warning sensors, 14 LN-251 with embedded global positioning systems/inertial navigation systems, 2, 000 AN/SSQ-125 multi-static active coherent source sonobouys and associated training and support services.
