Robert Potter, vice president of Americas sales at Symantec (Nasdaq: SYMC), has said that government agencies should develop cyber resilience plans in an effort to mitigate problems and address security gaps associated with the integration of new technology platforms into the infrastructure.
Potter wrote that agencies should start addressing such gaps through identity management.
[Organizations] must monitor how network traffic is flowing and how devices are communicating with each other, Potter said.
And they must have intelligent data protection in the data center to recognize and protect information.
He also advised agencies to implement data protection measures across endpoint devices, networks, data centers, cloud and social media as well as adopt network intelligence to facilitate anomaly recognition.
Full visibility into network communications is also essential, Potter noted.
And most importantly, agencies need to establish policies and deploy technologies for data loss prevention and encryption, he added.
