Joe Kelly, a 25-year Defense Department and 15-year government contracting veteran, has joined cybersecurity services company Assured Enterprises as vice president of federal sector operations.
Assured said Tuesday Kelly formerly served as acting chief information officer for the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board — an independent agency within the executive branch that works to protect privacy and civil liberties in counterterrorism programs.
Kelly’s DoD career includes roles in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence such as as deputy director for cyber capabilities, cyber intelligence chief and chief of information operations policy.
He worked to help foster engagement between DoD organizations and entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C. to discover new technology.
Kelly’s time in the private and academic sectors includes a senior analyst position at Science Applications International Corp., (NYSE: SAIC), sales executive at British Telecom and adjunct faculty at Georgetown University.
