Sikorsky Aircraft, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), has received a $158.4 million contract modification from the U.S. Army to exercise an option to manufacture an additional 14 UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
The Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday the Army Contracting Command will obligate the full amount of the modification from the service branch’s fiscal years 2010, 2015 and 2016 “other” procurement funds.
Sikorksy will perform work in Stratford, Connecticut through June 30, 2017.
The Army ordered eight UH-60M helicopters from Sikorsky in May under a separate $88 million contract modification.
The Black Hawk is designed for air assault, general support, aeromedical evacuation, command-and-control and special operations.
