Ricardo Defense has changed its name to Detroit Defense as part of a rebranding initiative to reflect its increasing focus on defense innovation, systems integration, digital logistics and mission readiness.
The rebranding comes after Proteus Enterprises and Gladstone Investment completed their acquisition of Ricardo Defense in December.
“Having worked across the Pentagon and industry for decades, I can say with confidence there’s no team better equipped to solve the urgent challenges our warfighters face. Detroit Defense brings together deep engineering roots, modern agility, and a relentless commitment to mission success,” Pierre Chao, co-founder of Proteus Enterprises and board chairman of Detroit Defense, said in a statement published Monday.
“This brand marks the beginning of something bold – and overdue – in the defense sector,” added Chao, a three-time Wash100 awardee.
Delivering Next-Gen Capabilities to DOD
Detroit Defense provides technical services and integrated logistics for military systems in support of the Department of Defense and its allies.
The company will continue to deliver capabilities, including Antilock Brake System/Electronic Stability Control, or ABS/ESC, retrofit kits for the U.S. Army’s fleet of High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles.
It will deploy next-generation capabilities to support warfighters and expand its impact in areas such as digital logistics, legacy system modernization, and intelligent sustainment to help address complex integration challenges.
“Detroit Defense represents who we are and where we’re headed,” said Pete Roney, CEO of Detroit Defense and Co-Founder of Proteus Enterprises. “We’re not just based in Detroit – we’re built by it. And we’re applying that same spirit of creativity, grit, and urgency to meet the evolving needs of our customers. When the mission demands it, we deliver it.”
