Horacio Rozanski, president and CEO of Booz Allen Hamilton and a three-time Wash100 awardee, stressed the need for speed and that the U.S. “cannot afford to be second” to China in the field of artificial intelligence.
Rozanski’s Insights on DeepSeek
When asked about DeepSeek, Rozanski said on Monday during CNBC’s “Closing Bell Overtime” that the Chinese-made AI model could have significant implications because the technology can reduce the cost of training large language models and the footprint in which those LLMs can operate.
“Now, from where we sit, the challenge with AI in general is provenance and safety and security. So we would not be telling our clients, go take the deepseek models and apply them to national security tomorrow, because there’s a lot that we don’t know. But those techniques, I’m sure, will be used more broadly across the industries to create faster better models,” the Booz Allen chairman stated.
Advancing National Security Through Tech Partnerships
During the interview, the 2025 Wash100 Award recipient cited Booz Allen’s partnership with Palantir Technologies to speed up the development of defense platforms. He noted that both companies are linked on the notion that national security is important.
According to Rozanski, the two companies developed a prototype within 45 days and transitioned the platform to the testing phase.
The Booz Allen chief executive also mentioned the company’s partnership with Amazon Web Services to develop capabilities to help federal customers drive innovation, accelerate decision-making and scale technologies for defense, intelligence, civil and commercial operations.
“Two weeks ago, we announced a partnership with AWS, an expanded partnership with them again, because we can co-invest and co-create on top of the massive investment they’ve already made to create things that our government really needs,” he added.
