The Wash100 are the 100 leaders bringing the most consequential innovation and vision to the government contracting industry. The list is compiled annually by EM’s discerning voting body to enshrine the great work by the public and private sector executives shaping the direction of GovCon. Winners include technologists, agency directors, military generals and more. Once the list has been released, a popular vote contest between the recipients takes place until the end of April.

If you haven’t yet placed your 10 votes in the popular competition, do so now! It’s a very tight and intense race.

“In today’s competitive GovCon landscape, maximizing return on investment is crucial, and Gerry Fasano is an executive who is deeply committed to delivering that. In his new role as Leidos CGO, Gerry works every day to win big deals, expand the new business pipeline and ensure overall growth for the $15 billion company, and his established reputation and proven track record speak for themselves,” said Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson.

“Gerry’s talent, ability, consistency, strategic growth mindset and vision for Leidos’ future have earned him yet another spot on our Wash100 list,” added Garrettson, who also founded the award.

2023 was a monumental year for Fasano. The executive spent much of the period steering the company toward a series of impressive contract wins from the Department of Defense. Then, in November, Leidos underwent organizational shifts and it was revealed Fasano would take on the role of CGO. He began his new position on January 1st combining strategy, marketing, government affairs, sales and communications into a streamlined, effective growth approach.

Prior to his ascension, Fasano was on the team that secured a spot on the 10-year, $7.9 billion Common Hardware Systems-6th Generation contract from the U.S. Army. In September 2023, it was announced Leidos will develop a logistics tool to aid supply chain and cybersecurity needs, as well as curb total lifecycle expenditures.

“By combining flexible solutions with artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to increase visibility into operations, we will work to provide a uniquely resilient rapid fulfillment model. We look forward to providing an innovative level of transparency and flexibility to help enhance the Army’s ability to meet their Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) objectives,” Fasano said.

JADC2 and other modern technology strategies will be topics of conversation at Potomac Officers Club’s 9th Annual Army Summit on June 13. Register now to hear speeches from high-ranking Army officials and network with representatives from all of the top defense-focused GovCon companies.

Fasano has been very technology-forward and embracing of new trends — on LinkedIn in February, Fasano noted that “AI is changing the playing field. Our teams are working to ensure that we are utilizing Trusted AI to solve problems for our military partners in a dynamic defense landscape.”

Unmanned systems are another piece of emerging tech Fasano and Leidos are turning toward. In August, Leidos won a $95 million contract from the U.S. Navy to run, maintain and facilitate several of the branch’s medium unmanned surface vessels, including Overlord.

“Leidos is leading a new era of naval operations. The Leidos team has unmatched experience and expertise in autonomous vessel design and operations, delivering four operational medium-sized USV platforms to the Navy so far. We look forward to helping the Navy accelerate this important work and providing new capabilities at the tip of the spear,” remarked Fasano.

Executive Mosaic extends its hearty congratulations to Gerry Fasano and the whole team at Leidos on their Wash100 Award win. We are looking forward to watching Fasano succeed in his new role.
