Boeing Receives $178M Air Force Grey Wolf Helicopter Production Contract

Boeing (NYSE: BA) has secured a potential $178 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to build and deliver seven MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters and provide training and sustainment support services for the military branch.

The aerospace and defense contractor said Monday the award brings the total number of helicopters under contract with the military branch to 26.

“Building the Grey Wolf fleet and paving the way towards full rate production is a critical step in supporting the Air Force’s modernization priorities,” said Azeem Khan, MH-139 program director at Boeing.

MH-139 Grey Wolf is a multimission helicopter based on the Leonardo AW139 aircraft and is designed to perform troop and cargo transport, search and rescue and patrol missions. The aircraft comes with a new avionics system to provide the Air Force with operational flexibility and improved situational awareness.

According to Boeing, the first production MH-139 aircraft performed its maiden flight in December.

The company is on schedule to hand over to the Air Force the first low-rate initial production Grey Wolf helicopter in the summer of 2024.
