Raytheon Books $408M Air Force Contract Modification for Hyperonic Missile Development Effort

An RTX subsidiary (NYSE: RTX) has received a $407.6 million modification to a task order for the development of the Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile in support of the Southern Cross Integrated Flight Research Experiment.

In September 2022, a Raytheon and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) team secured a $985.3 million task order to build and demonstrate the air-launched, scramjet-powered HACM weapon system that is capable of operating at a speed greater than Mach 5.

Under the new award, the Department of Defense said Thursday Raytheon is anticipated to carry out work in Tucson, Arizona until Dec. 31, 2028.

Approximately $27.1 million from the service branch’s fiscal 2023 research, development, test and evaluation funds are being initially allocated.
