L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has received orders worth more than $247 million to produce and deliver AN/PRC-158 and AN/PRC-163 Manpack and Leader radios to the U.S. Army.
The orders will be used by the Army Integrated Tactical Network and funded under the branch’s Handheld, Manpack and Small Form Fit program, the company said Wednesday.
Manpack and Leader radios are multichannel, software-defined platforms used in communicating secret as well as controlled, unclassified information.
L3Harris’ HMS devices are designed to incorporate satellite communications especially in remote locations. They can also use SATURN and other waveforms to enhance ground-to-air connectivity.
“Resilient communication is critical now more than ever, as our soldiers face highly sophisticated enemies,” said Sam Mehta, president of communication systems at L3Harris. He added that their technology helps warfighters “stay connected to their larger teams, whether other users are leveraging our latest-generation devices or assets already in their inventories.”
