Mitre Books $499M Air Force Contract for Continued Operations of National Security Engineering Center

Mitre has secured a $498.7 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to continue operating a federally funded research and development center conducting research in cybersecurity and other technical areas.

The nonprofit research organization will remain as the administrator of the National Security Engineering Center under the sole source, cost-reimbursement option contract, the Department of Defense said Friday.

The Air Force-funded NSEC partners with military and intelligence organizations to conduct R&D efforts aimed at addressing national security challenges.

Mitre’s contract work will occur in Bedford, Massachusetts; McLean, Virginia; and other locations within and outside the continental U.S. through Sept. 30, 2024.

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting activity and will obligate $1.6 million at the time of award.
