Hello, Guest!

Meet the Guests: David McKeown & More Defense Community Authorities Assemble at 2023 Cyber Summit

The public and private sectors alike share at least one defining characteristic: their operations are determined by their ever-increasing relocation to the cybersphere. Work, agreements, communication, storage and even warfare are now all taking place online, in the cloud and across complex digital architectures.

This sweeping and ongoing digital modernization comes with meaningful and important implications for the government contracting community. Whether it’s large companies like ManTech or smaller firms such as the Leesburg, Virginia-based Alpha Omega Integration, contracting companies working with federal clients are employing tools like customer relationship management software to conduct their business.

Additionally, the security of cyber assets is quite obviously a crucial aspect of any conversation around cyber. Organizations like Xage Security and many others are committed to anticipating the strategies of tomorrow’s cybercriminals and constructing protective systems that steel crucial information and resources against threats like malware, breaches and even ransomware.

ManTech, Alpha Omega and Xage are all sponsoring the upcoming 2023 Cyber Summit, from the Potomac Officers Club. This essential event gathers representatives from the Department of Defense, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the Department of the Air Force and other notable agencies to answer hard-hitting questions about everything from cyber’s immense benefits to its vulnerabilities.

The event will take place on June 8 at the Hilton-McLean from 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Register here and bring a hungry stomach — a delicious breakfast and lunch spread will be served.

A star-studded cast of contracting-focused cyber experts will deliver keynote addresses and carry on panel conversations throughout the day. Here are some guests to look forward to:

David McKeown

The dual-hatted deputy DOD chief information officer for cybersecurity and DOD senior information security officer is a go-to figure to help solve policy, technical and program concerns relating to cybersecurity across the manifold defense community components. He is known for his close working relationship with industry and his work aims to create an ease of communication throughout the Defense Industrial Base. McKeown will be delivering the closing keynote at the POC summit, so you have to stay until the end!

David Patrick

Patrick brings an even more GovCon-specific perspective to the summit’s proceedings. He commands immense federal government experience, with significant time spent in program management and acquisition operations roles at the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Census Bureau. Currently, he is the chief acquisition executive at CISA and he is here to answer all of your burning questions about acquisition and procurement and their attendant laws, regulations, principles and standards. Patrick will be speaking just prior to McKeown, for the afternoon keynote.

James Bishop

DAF chief information security officer has an extremely pivotal role in today’s landscape: a direct confidante of the chief information officer regarding cybersecurity policy, programs and force development. Bishop commands a coalition made up of military, civilian and GovCon community practitioners to lead the charge against cyber threats. His responsibilities — which he will explicate during the National Security in the Cyber Era Panel — also include facilitating risk management and ensuring cybersecurity accountability for information and weapon apparatuses and operational technology.
