The award marks the second consecutive year that Purvis was inducted into Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of government contracting leaders who have staying power in the industry. Visit Wash100.com to cast your votes for Purvis and your other favorite GovCon executives and officials.

Purvis’ first Wash100 recognition was for her business technology and process support leadership at Northrop. Commenting on her win, Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100 Award, said, “Shawn Purvis has distinguished herself with a leadership approach based on teamwork, which is fitting since she makes sure the team of 90,000 employees, across all 50 states and 25 countries have the latest IT tools and technologies to not only provide world class products and services, but keep the enterprise secure in cyberspace.”

Under her leadership in the previous year, the Northrop sector has continuously worked to support digital transformation, advanced collaboration systems and business applications across the corporation. She also led the development of the strategy for next generation network, cyber security and digital design for domestic and international employees and locations.

In an Executive Spotlight with ExecutiveBiz, Purvis talked about how the Enterprise Services sector is providing integrated offerings to colleagues in the company and around the world.

“How are our services being delivered, and what do employees think of our services? These are the kinds of questions that transform the way we think and how we deliver integrated solutions. At the end of the day, our primary responsibility is to ensure that every Northrop Grumman employee has the tools and technologies they need to be able to execute on their programs in support of our customers.”

Purvis will now use the experience gained from working at Northrop and other GovCon companies to perform her new responsibilities as QinetiQ U.S. president, a role she formally assumed on Feb. 16.

At QinetiQ US, Purvis oversees the operations of the engineering company as it offers critical capabilities in support of critical assets as well as defense and security forces in the country. The business is focused on helping customers address next generation of threats, strengthen force protection and lessen cognitive burden through autonomy.

“With an ambition to build a disruptive mid-tier company in the US through both organic growth and strategy-led acquisitions, I am focused on driving both strong operational performance and executing on our growth strategy for the medium and long-term,” Purvis said.

She brings to her role over 25 years of experience in leading billion-dollar organizations in the areas of defense, intelligence and cybersecurity technical offerings. Aside from Northrop, she also worked at Lockheed Martin and Science Applications International Corp.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Shawn Purvis and the QinetiQ US team for winning her second Wash100 Award. Purvis’ expertise and strong leadership position her as a significant executive in the GovCon sector throughout the year.
