Northrop, 4 Other Companies Team Up for NASA Lunar Terrain Vehicle Design

Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has teamed up with four other companies to design and propose a lunar terrain vehicle for NASA’s Artemis moon exploration program.

Northrop said Tuesday it will lead the industry team composed of AVL, Intuitive Machines, Lunar Outpost and Michelin to offer the space agency an LTV platform that will include avionics, cargo storage, sensors, navigation technology and controls.

The group also enlisted Harrison Schmitt and Charles Duke to support the rover design effort using their experiences as Apollo astronauts.

NASA sought ideas from the business sector in late August on possible systems and mechanisms for an unenclosed rover to transport astronauts around the moon’s south pole.
