Former Northrop Exec Tom Vice Named Sierra Space CEO

Tom Vice, a three-decade veteran of Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), has been appointed CEO of Sierra Nevada Corp.‘s subsidiary that focuses on building space platforms for both the government and commercial sectors.

He joins Sierra Space as the company aims to launch the Dream Chaser spaceplane on its first cargo delivery mission to the International Space Station in 2022 as part of NASA’s Commercial Resupply Service 2 program, SNC said Monday.

Vice most recently served as chairman, president and CEO of supersonic aircraft manufacturing company Aerion.

His more than 30-year career at Northrop includes various senior executive roles such as president of the company’s aerospace systems and technical services business segments.

“[Vice] adds to our existing team – with backgrounds in commercial aerospace, national security, as astronauts in space, as engineers prioritizing mission-critical safety, in corporate finance – who recognize the enormous implications and opportunity of space for Sierra Space to our economy and our security,” said SNC CEO Fatih Ozmen.
