Danny Deep, chief operating officer of General Dynamics' (NYSE: GD) land systems business, has been promoted to succeed Gary Whited as president of the same unit.

General Dynamics said Monday Whited intends to retire from the company on April 1, 2020, after a 23-year career.

In his next role, Deep will lead the Sterling Heights, Mich.-based business that produces tracked and wheeled vehicles for the military sector.

“Deep is a proven leader with decades of experience designing, manufacturing and sustaining the world’s most advanced combat platforms,” said Mark Roualet, executive vice president of General Dynamics' combat systems group.
