TYSONS CORNER, VA, March 26, 2019 — Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) unveiled an LTE-over-satellite platform that works to directly connect 4G devices with in-orbit satellites in an effort to support communications in remote areas and during natural disasters, ExecutiveBiz reported March 14.

The company said March 13 this mobility technology serves to enable people to use their commercially made phones to communicate, even when cellular networks are down, via a satellite-linked pop-up network.

“[It’s] important to have new ways to connect families and first responders with people who would be otherwise cut off from contact,” said Maria Demaree, vice president and general manager of the mission solutions unit within Lockheed’s space business.
