Rick Ambrose

TYSONS CORNER, VA, December 17, 2018 — Rick Ambrose, executive vice president for Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) space business, has said the company’s move to partner with Amazon Web Services to deliver a cloud-based satellite communications ground system is meant to address cost challenges associated with establishing such infrastructure, ExecutiveBiz reported Dec. 3.

The Washington Post reported Nov. 30 that the strategic business agreement between the two companies for the AWS Ground Station will utilize Lockheed’s Verge antenna network and AWS’ computing and data storage capabilities to streamline the delivery of satellite data to customers.

“We think this is a support that significantly lowers those entry costs for folks, especially if you’re a startup company or university,” Ambrose, a three-time Wash100 awardee, said in the report.
