AECOM to Help USAID Promote Practices to Protect Amazon Rainforest; John Vollmer Quoted

TYSONS CORNER, VA, November 29, 2018 — AECOM (NYSE: ACM) has received a potential $23.5M contract from the U.S. Agency for International Development‘s South America regional office in Peru to drive measures that counter harmful infrastructure and extractive activities in the Amazon, ExecutiveBiz reported Nov. 2.

The company said Nov. 1 it will collaborate with The Nature Conservancy under the Amazon Promotion of Best Social and Environmental Management Practices project to engage with the hydropower, oil and gas, mining and road sectors and ensure the implementation of practices that work to conserve biodiversity, avoid deforestation and safeguard the local communities in the region.

“This award gives us an opportunity to continue our environment and sustainability work in Peru and Colombia, and expand our regional presence to include Brazil,” added John Vollmer, president of AECOM’s management services group and a three-time Wash100 awardee.
