IBM, VA Continue Work Under Partnership on AI-Based Cancer Treatment Identification


TYSONS CORNER, VA, July 23, 2018 — IBM (NYSE: IBM) and the Department of Veterans Affairs have extended their partnership aimed at utilizing artificial intelligence technology to help identify treatment options for retired service members with cancer, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

The company said Thursday VA oncologists, under the National Cancer Moonshot Initiative, use the Watson for Genomics technology to support precision oncology care programs by interpreting genomic data from VA patients across the U.S. and determining potential therapeutic options that can address tumor-specific mutations.
