Huntington Ingalls Shipyard Adds New Fixture for Submarine Construction


TYSONS CORNER, VA, Feb. 7, 2018 — A Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) shipbuilding division has completed the installation of a caisson fixture at the Joint Manufacturing Assembly Facility in Virginia to support the construction of submarines, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

The company said Jan. 31 the 80-feet-high, 400-metric-ton structure will be used by Newport News Shipbuilding in the production of future Virginia-class and Columbia-class submarines after it becomes fully operational later in the year.
