Lockheed’s F-16 Jets Get Air Force Approval for Service Life Extension


TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 17, 2017 — The Lockheed Martin-built (NYSE: LMT) F-16 fighter jet has received clearance from the U.S. Air Force for an extended service life from an equivalent 8,000 to 12,000 flight hours, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.

The company said Wednesday it worked with the Air Force to cut projected service life costs for Block 40 to 52 F-16s and perform structural modifications to the aircraft as part of the F-16 Service Life Extension Program.
