Northrop Lands $376M Navy G/ATOR Radar Tech Production Contract


northrop Grumman_BLUENorthrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has secured a potential four-year, $375.6 million contract to produce and deliver nine ground/air task-oriented radar low-rate initial production systems to the U.S. Navy.

The Defense Department said Wednesday Northrop’s electronic systems business unit will perform contract work in Maryland, New York, Connecticut, Oklahoma, California,  Arizona, Minnesota, New Hampshire and North Carolina through September 2020.

The Marine Corps Systems Command will obligate $119 million at the time of the award from the Marine Corps‘ fiscal years 2014 and 2016 procurement funds as well as fiscal 2016 research, development, test and evaluation funds.

The Northrop-built AN/TPS-80 G/ATOR system is designed to help military users detect, track and engage a range of hostile threats as well as to support air traffic control operations.
