An acquisition deal announced this week appears on the surface to have its roots in Tokyo and Texas but its impact will also be felt right here in the Washington region with respect to the federal contracting market.

Round Rock, Texas-based NTT Data — a subsidiary of Japan’s telecom conglomerate NTT – has struck a $3.05 billion deal for the Dell services business formerly known as Perot Systems after the iconic billionaire and two-time presidential candidate Ross Perot.

This deal that contains predominantly commercial components certainly will carry ramifications for federal agencies as both NTT Data and Dell hold prime contracts on some of the government™s most-used vehicles for IT products and services.
