Voyager said Thursday the proposed acquisition, which is subject to customary closing conditions, establishes the foundation for its customers to use space-based cloud services to reduce latency for mission-critical applications and enable autonomous operations for space stations, satellites and lunar missions.
Integrating LEOcloud’s Space Edge Into Voyager’s Portfolio
Through the transaction, Voyager expects to improve its capabilities in artificial intelligence-driven analytics, real-time data processing and satellite communications by integrating LEOcloud’s Space Edge platform into its existing portfolio.
“The future of cloud computing extends beyond Earth,” said Voyager CEO Dylan Taylor. “LEOcloud supports the growing market for edge computing in space, evolving next-gen cloud services for commercial, government and defense applications.”
Advancing Space-Based Edge Computing Tech Via Partnership
In December, Voyager partnered with space-based cloud services provider LEOcloud to advance space-based edge computing capabilities.
The two companies will work under a project grant awarded by the Air Force Research Laboratory Regional Network – Mid-Atlantic as part of the network’s Spring 2024 funding cycle.
