Bill Rowan, vice president of federal sales at VMware (NYSE: VMW), wrote in a GCN article published Tuesday that there are three technologies federal agencies can adopt to transform the mobility experience of their employees and adhere to security policies and one of them is an enterprise mobility management system.
Rowan noted that such a technology could help users seamlessly integrate applications and services and use the same mobile device for work and personal activities.
Another technology platform agencies can deploy is a federal identity management system.
Federated identity management allows users to have one digital identity, which is then connected to each of the applications and services they access to successfully do their job, Rowan noted. By understanding users on an individual level, agencies can deliver a unique set of applications and services tailored to each users role, while also increasing the security of that device.
Rowan also discussed how a management information system could help agencies measure how their personnel use apps and devices and cited three factors to consider when deploying an MIS: delivering the right operating system, managing licenses and ensuring compliance.
Enterprise mobility management, federated identity management and management information systems all provide operational efficiencies, which allow for future growth and enable customization of services for a secure, consistent experience across the workforce, he noted.
