Rob Davies
Rob Davies of ViON and Anthony Robbins of NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) told MeriTalk in an interview published Tuesday about the needs and factors federal agencies should consider to operationalize artificial intelligence.
Davies, who serves as executive vice president of operations at ViON and a previous Wash100 winner, said agencies will require AI-based, purpose-built infrastructures that could help data scientists and architects access massively parallel, all-flash performance, slashing time-to-insight and will need to address workforce availability by establishing a resourcing model.
Robbins, VP of North America public sector at NVIDIA and a 2019 Wash100 award recipient, called on agencies to build relationships with the innovation community, systems integrators and universities to advance AI.
Both executives cited the importance of data in jumpstarting AI projects. Its all about the data. Luckily, our government is the largest producer of data in the world and we need that foundation to feed any AI algorithm, Robbins said.
Davies discussed the role of data and funding in sustaining AI programs both in production and operation. We recommend bringing all the stakeholders in early in the development process to confirm the problems, costs, etc. Incorporate that feedback on the front-end so you can avoid wasting resources or exposing your agency to risk, he added.
