Venice Goodwine, director of enterprise information technology at the Department of the Air Force for the past two years, has assumed new duties as DAF’s chief information officer, Federal News Network reported Tuesday.
She succeeds three-time Wash100 winner Lauren Knausenberger, who stepped down in June after three years in the CIO post.
Effective Sunday, Goodwine became in charge of the branch’s enterprise IT, cybersecurity and data and artificial intelligence directorates. Her responsibilities also include ensuring that the department enforces responsible and ethical use of AI, as well as the Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act.
The three-decade IT veteran previously was chief information security officer at the Department of Agriculture, where she helped raise its cyber score under the Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act.
Goodwine joined the U.S. Air Force in 1986 as a signals intelligence analyst and became part of the Air Force Reserve in 2003 as a communication and information officer.
