MarkLogic, a data integration and management company backed by private equity firm Vector Capital, has purchased semantic platform vendor Smartlogic in a move to offer integrated tools that could help public and private sector customers gain insight from datasets.
San Jose, California-based Smartlogic has worked with clients at government, energy, health care, life sciences, media, manufacturing and financial services organizations to manage metadata using technology, MarkLogic said Tuesday.
Jeremy Bentley, founder and CEO of Smartlogic, will join the acquirer’s executive team as part of the deal.
MarkLogic CEO Jeff Casale noted that the combined company seeks to help enterprises unlock the value in human-generated content” and address complex data challenges.
