ULA, SpaceX Book $1.8B in Space Force Contract Modifications Under NSSL Phase 2 Contract

SpaceX and United Launch Alliance have secured $1.76 billion in contract modifications from the U.S. Space Force to provide launch services under the second phase of the National Security Space Launch program.

The Department of Defense said Friday the modifications awarded by Space Systems Command are for launches planned between fiscal year 2022 and FY 2027.

ULA, a joint venture of Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), booked a potential $1.1 billion award, bringing its contract’s total estimated face value to $4.5 billion.

SpaceX was awarded a $661 million contract modification, increasing its contract’s ceiling amount to $4 billion.

Contract work will run through March 31, 2028, and occur at the companies’ respective facilities in Colorado and California, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida and Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

In October, the two companies received 21 launch service mission assignments for FY 2024 from SSC under the NSSL Phase 2 awarded in August 2020.
