Why Did 22nd Century Technologies Acquire BT Federal?

TSCTI said Tuesday the acquisition, cleared by the Federal Communications Commission, enhances its managed network services portfolio through the integration of BT Federal’s telecommunications and networking capabilities. The move extends TSCTI’s domestic footprint to all 50 states.

The transaction also aligns with BT’s efforts to transform its international operations and pursue growth as a global provider of secure, multi-cloud connectivity, while maintaining its established U.S. footprint.

“Today’s announcement is another milestone in focusing our international business on what it does best: providing secure multi-cloud connectivity to large organizations globally,” said Bas Burger, CEO of BT International.

What Is the Purpose of the 22nd Century Networks Subsidiary?

BT Federal will now operate as a TSCTI wholly owned subsidiary, 22nd Century Networks, which will deliver secure, end-to-end communications technologies to federal agencies through a unified, interoperable platform. This will allow organizations to modernize legacy systems, integrate across domains and carry out missions securely.

“With 22nd Century Networks, we are advancing digital modernization while also securing the network layer that underpins our nation’s most critical operations across the Department of War, Department of Justice, and Department of State. By delivering secure, sovereign infrastructure engineered for Zero Trust, interoperability, and mission continuity in any environment, we are deepening our commitment to protecting the people, systems, and missions that keep our nation safe,” said Anil Sharma, CEO of 22nd Century Technologies.

TSCTI Builds on Prior TreasurySoft Acquisition

The BT Federal deal follows TSCTI’s acquisition of TreasurySoft in August 2024. The move integrated TreasurySoft’s PeopleSoft and Oracle Fusion ERP treasury management systems, which expanded TSCTI’s enterprise resource planning capabilities.
