The QinetiQ subsidiary said Vecchiolla, a defense industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, assumed the responsibility of leading its U.S. operations from Shawn Purvis, a four-time Wash100 awardee who was named to the post in February 2022.
Vecchiolla has served on QinetiQ US’ Special Security Agreement Board since April 2024, contributing insights gained from his time in military service, public sector leadership and defense industry executive roles.
Tom Vecchiolla’s Career Highlights
He was a U.S. Navy pilot and defense acquisition professional for over two decades. He also worked at the now RTX company for 15 years, culminating in his Raytheon International president role.
Vecchiolla’s career also includes time serving as president and CEO of ST Engineering North America, where he led operations of a diverse industrial and technology portfolio.
“This is an exciting time in the U.S. market and a timely opportunity to build on QinetiQ’s strong foundation,” said Vecchiolla. “I’m honored to join QinetiQ US and look forward to working with our talented team to deliver mission-led innovation to our customers and drive sustainable growth in the coming years.”
