State Dept OKs Poland's Requests for $500M in Mobile Rocket Launcher, Air-to-Air Missiles

The State Department has cleared Poland™s request to buy a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System and AIM-120C-7 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles from the U.S. government under two foreign military sales agreements worth approximately $500 million combined.

Poland asked to purchase Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System M31A1 Unitary, GMLRS M30A1 alternative warheads, Army Tactical Missile Systems M57 Unitary, low-cost reduced range practice rockets and universal position navigation units under a potential $250 million FMS deal, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will serve as the prime contractor in this FMS transaction that also covers guidance and control section assemblies, support equipment, program support, U.S. government and contractor services, training and logistics services.

Lockheed will engage in a direct commercial sale with Polska Grupa Zbrojenjowa, Poland™s prime contractor in the transaction that seeks to help the country modernize its armed forces and deter regional threats.

Poland also requested the procurement of Raytheon-built (NYSE: RTN) AIM-120C-7 AMRAAMs, missile containers, spare and repair parts and weapon system support through a potential $250 million FMS deal.

The transaction also includes government and contractor engineering, logistics, training support, test equipment and other technical services in support of the European country™s F-16 fighter jet program.

DSCA said it notified Congress of the deals Tuesday.
