The State Department has approved a potential $256M sale of light utility helicopters built by Textron ’s (NYSE: TXT) Bell subsidiary to the government of Guyana to support the country’s national security efforts .
The foreign military sale covers two 412EPi and two 429 aircraft as well as related equipment, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday.
Guyana also requested two L3Harris Technologies -built (NYSE: LHX) WESCAM MX-10 cameras, ground support equipment, spares and related technical support.
Bell will serve as the prime contractor for the potential FMS agreement.
According to DSCA, Guyana intends to use the Bell 429 and 412EPi helicopters to fortify its capacity for homeland defense, maritime surveillance, interdiction, anti-narcotics missions and counter-transnational crime operations.
DSCA notified Congress of the sale Friday.
