State Dept OKs $180M in F-16 Training Support, Precision Guided Kit Requests From Netherlands

The State Department has approved two foreign military sales agreements worth approximately $180 million combined for the Dutch government to buy from the U.S. government M1156 precision guided kits as well as defense services and articles in support of its air force™s F-16 training unit.

The Netherlands requested to purchase GBU-12 Inert Paveway II laser-guided bombs, PGU-27 inert training rounds, MJU-7/B flares, BDU-33/B and BDU-50/B training munitions, RR-188 Chaff, fuel and air refueling support, base operating support, airlift services and training support under a potential $110 million FMS deal, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.

The proposed transaction also covers weapons system and software support, technical, logistics and engineering services to help the European country™s air force train pilots in support of its F-16 fighter aircraft inventory.

The Tucson Air National Guard in Arizona will offer maintenance support, flight operations and instruction services under this potential sale.

The department also cleared a potential $70 million deal that would allow the Netherlands to procure M1156 PGKs, PGK settable trainers, M76 PGK fuze wrenches, extended length artillery projectile extractors, technical support, engineering and logistics services.

Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA) will act as the prime contractor in the proposed FMS agreement that aims to help the Dutch government deter regional threats, build up its homeland defenses and offer support to security cooperation and coalition efforts.

DSCA said it notified Congress of the proposed transactions Tuesday.
