The State Department has approved India’s request to buy AGM-84L Harpoon Block II air-launched missiles, MK 54 lightweight torpedoes and related equipment under two foreign military sales agreements worth $155M combined.
India requested to procure AGM-84L Harpoon Block II missiles, repair and spare parts, containers, test and support equipment, technical documentation and publications, logistics, technical assistance and personnel training support under a potential $92M FMS deal, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.
Boeing (NYSE: BA) will serve as the principal contractor in this transaction that seeks to help the government of India build up its homeland defense and deter regional threats.
The department also cleared a potential $63M deal that would allow the South Asian country to purchase Raytheon-built (NYSE: RTN) MK 54 torpedoes, exercise torpedoes, fleet exercise section and fuel tanks built into MK 54 kits, spare parts, air launch accessories for fixed wing, training, logistics and engineering support. Raytheon’s integrated defense system business was named principal contractor in this transaction.
India will integrate the Harpoon missiles and MK 54 torpedoes into its P-8I aircraft to support anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare missions.
DSCA said it notified Congress of the deals Monday.
