The State Department has approved a potential $930 million foreign military sale of weapons, support equipment and services for six AH-64E Apache helicopters the Indian government intends to buy through a direct commercial sale transaction.
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Raytheon (NYSE: RTN), General Electric (NYSE: GE) and Longbow — a joint venture between Lockheed and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) — will serve as prime contractors on the proposed FMS deal, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Tuesday.
India requested to procure 14 T700-GE-701D engines, four AN/APG-78 Fire Control Radars, four Block IIIRadar Electronic Units, four AN/APR-48B Modernized Radar Frequency Interferometers, 180 AGM-114L-3 Hellfire Longbow missiles, 90 AGM-114R-3 Hellfire II missiles, 200 Stinger Block I-92H missiles, seven Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensors and 14 Embedded Global Positioning System Inertial Navigation Systems.
Other items under the proposed deal are rockets, training and dummy missiles, 30mm cannons and ammunition, transponders, simulators, communication equipment, spare and repair parts, tools and test equipment, support equipment, repair and return support, personnel training and training equipment, publications and technical documentation, and engineering and logistics services.
U.S. government and contractor representatives will participate in a week-long discussion in India with the latter country’s government as part of the agreement.
Representatives will also assist in equipment de-processing/fielding, system checkout, new equipment training and furnished services for 30 months, DSCA noted.
