The State Department has approved the request of Kuwait to purchase design and construction services and related equipment under the Foreign Military Sales program.
The possible transaction is estimated to amount to $1 billion and will cover maritime and land facilities at the Mohammed Al Ahmed Naval Base, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.

The potential sale will also support other affiliated locations, the Ras Al Ard Naval Base for Onshore Logistics and an alternate logistics station in Kuwait, as well as headquarters complex construction.
Additional requested deliverables are life cycle design; construction; project management; engineering studies; engineering services; technical support; facility and infrastructure assessments; surveys; planning; programming; design; acquisition; contract administration; construction management; logistics; other technical services; and other related elements of logistics and program support.
According to DSCA, the proposed purchases are meant to boost Kuwait’s capability to meet current and future threats through onshore logistic support.
Principal contractor/s will be selected from approved vendors likely via competitive acquisitions.
