The State Department has approved a potential $691 million foreign military sales request of the government of the Netherlands to buy 246 AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II tactical missiles, related equipment and support services from the U.S. government.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday RTX (NYSE: RTX) will serve as the principal contractor in the proposed FMS deal, which includes AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder captive air training missiles, tactical guidance units, missile containers, spares and training equipment.
The Dutch government also requested to procure personnel training, technical documents, U.S. government and contractor engineering support, technical assistance, program and logistics support services.
The Netherlands will use the tactical missiles and related equipment to counter existing and future threats and improve interoperability with the U.S. and other NATO member countries.
The FMS deal may require the provision of U.S. government engineering and technical services to support the European country’s training needs.
DSCA notified Congress of the potential sale Friday.
