The State Department has approved NATO’s request to buy Alliance Ground Surveillance system equipment and related support services from the U.S. government under a foreign military sales agreement worth approximately $250.2 million.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) will serve as the principal contractor in the FMS transaction, which includes the procurement of AN/APG-68 radar processors, communications equipment spares, Global Hawk engine controllers and classified and unclassified spare components and parts.
The NATO Support and Procurement Agency also requested the purchase of technical documentation and publications, facilities support, software delivery, transportation, contractor and government engineering, logistics, program assistance and technical support services.
The proposed FMS deal will enable NATO to improve its capability to enhance and sustain the alliance’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities to meet existing and future threats.
