ST Engineering Subsidiary Receives $553M Order for 2nd Coast Guard Polar Cutter

ST Engineering’s shipbuilding business in Pascagoula, Mississippi, has received a $552.7 million contract modification from the Department of the Navy to design and build a second polar security cutter for the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Navy exercised an option on a potential $1.94 billion contract originally awarded to VT Halter Marine in April 2019 in support of USCG’s heavy icebreaker fleet recapitalization program.

According to ST Engineering, the PSC acquisition effort is part of a Department of Homeland Security Level 1 investment and covers the construction of up to three new multimission cutters.

The Department of Defense said Wednesday it expects work under the new order to be complete by September 2026.
